“Doctor, my neck skin has got so saggy and crepey, it makes me look so old. I just want to hide my neck under turtlenecks all the time… should I get surgery?”
That was part of a conversation I had with one of my patients the other day (I won't reveal her name).
She’d already tried tightening creams, massages, exercises… but nothing seemed to help tighten the skin back to how it looked before.
And her saggy neck skin was wrecking her confidence.
Well, what I told her is that saggy neck skin is common as we get older.
It's caused by a loss of collagen and elastin - the proteins that keep the skin firm and smooth.
Saggy neck skin can also be influenced by sun exposure, smoking, weight changes, and genetics.
But while it’s common, I see many patients frustrated by how old their neck looks… and worried about developing the dreaded “turkey neck” look.
Well, I totally understand why surgery seems an attractive option.
But as I warn all my patients…
There are many reasons why you should NEVER get neck surgery
Here are 4 reasons why you should avoid neck surgery…
And a easy, at-home solution that can tighten and naturally lift your neck skin instead:
Let's start with the most obvious reason to avoid neck surgery: The cost.
Neck surgery is a BIG financial investment, ranging from $3,500 to $8,000 depending on the type of procedure. And that doesn't include costs such as anesthesia, facility fees, and post-surgery care.
Neck surgery involves making incisions behind the ears and under the chin, and removing excess skin and fat. The underlying muscles are then tightened.
So as you can imagine, neck surgery poses many risks. This includes infection, scarring, nerve damage, and adverse reactions to anesthesia.
There’s also the risk of the surgery not going to plan, requiring additional procedures.
It depends on the individual, but usually it takes about two to four weeks to heal from neck surgery.
You’ll have to wear a compression garment around your neck for the first week, and avoid strenuous activities for at least a month.
You may also experience some swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, or scarring, which will gradually subside over time. The final results of the surgery may then take up to six months.
While neck skin surgery can provide results, the effects won’t last forever.
As you continue aging, your skin will continue to lose elasticity, and the results of the surgery will diminish.
This means more surgeries, costing more time and money.
So with all these downsides, what do I recommend you try instead?
If you’ve already tried facial exercises, massages, and neck creams without success…
There’s another option I recommend before going under the knife.
It’s a natural solution that addresses a condition called “transdermal breakdown”... which my research revealed to be the #1 cause of saggy neck skin.
The even better news is that you can use this solution at home, and it provides a younger looking neck in just five minutes flat.
